Leganes appear to be growing impatient with their pursuit of Guido Carrillo and have identified alternatives, which could be a big blow for Southampton.
It’s no secret that the forward is not in Ralph Hasenhuttl’s plans for the Premier League campaign ahead, and as such, he has not been training with the first-team squad.
Carrillo is surplus to requirements, and Leganes are keen to take him on another loan, according to El Gol Digital. However, the Spanish news outlet reports that the club are not resting on their laurels, with a deal for the 28-year-old still ‘complicated’.
As a consequence of no agreement being reached as of yet, Mauricio Pellegrino has reportedly lined up Valencia strikers Manu Vallejo and Ruben Sobrino as summer targets.

There are still a few weeks left in the European transfer window, so time is on our side when it comes to offloading Carrillo. However, the possible destinations for the player are rapidly slimming, and Leganes still seem to be our best bet of getting rid.
Boca Juniors were thought to be strong contenders to take the striker off our hands, but they signed Franco Soldano to replace Dario Benedetto. That left Leganes, and now, it seems Pellegrino is looking elsewhere for attacking inspiration…
Southampton must sell or, at the very least, loan out Carrillo. Having him on the wage bill for yet more months is far from ideal, and with him not featuring in Hasenhuttl’s thinking, there is little point in him being here.
Saints might just need to bite the bullet and accept Leganes’ loan proposal, rather than insisting on a permanent sale, which has been unlikely from the beginning.
