Southampton have entered the race to sign Ruben Aguilar, according to L’Equipe, via Get French Football News.
Saints are not alone in expressing an interest in the Montpellier right-back, however.
Fellow Premier League duo Brighton and Crystal Palace are also being linked with acquiring Aguilar’s signature, as well as Monaco.
The 26-year-old is thought to be of particular interest to the Ligue 1 outfit, who could lose Djibril Sidibe this summer.
Aguilar’s current Montpellier deal runs until next summer, meaning the French side won’t be able to cash in on him in 12 months’ time.
With the end of the transfer window fast approaching for English clubs, there could be a scrap to sign the Frenchman.
Aguilar has been at Montpellier since 2017, having joined from Auxerre.
Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl is still looking for potential incomings this summer, so a deal for the full-back should not be ruled out.
