Southampton remain in talks with Boca Juniors as they look to offload Guido Carrillo this summer.
According to claims from Sky Sports, the Saints forward has been courted by several clubs in the current transfer window, but negotiations are still ongoing with the Argentine giants.
Carrillo is not a part of Ralph Hasenhuttl’s plans and has not been training with the first-team squad of late. It seems his time at Southampton could be all but over, with the club pushing to sell him permanently.

From start to finish, the signing of Carrillo was bizarre. It was a transfer that was destined to fail, as the board allowed one of the club’s worst-ever managers to spend £19 million midway through the 2017/18 season.

Southampton have a plethora of forward options available following the acquisition of Che Adams, and despite the team’s goalscoring shortcomings in recent years, there is optimism that the attackers will be fit and firing this time around.
Carrillo, however, has shown no evidence that he is capable of this, having failed to score a single goal in a Saints shirt following his club-record transfer from Monaco.
Boca Juniors will look to replace Dario Benedetto, and it seems they are rather fond of the Saints outcast. It’s time to put this one down as one of the previous regime’s many failures, draw a line under it, and move on.
