Southampton are interested in signing Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile, according to Soccer Link, via Get French Football News.
The 18-year-old is a defender of undoubted potential, making 20 appearances in Ligue 1 last season.
Southampton have reportedly “joined a host of interested sides” with regards to Badiashile.
Among those teams in the race to sign him are Atletico Madrid, Real Betis, Valencia, Manchester United and Wolves, with the Premier League pair thought to have made verbal offers of €30 million.
Although Saints have not yet made an offer for the teenager, they have enquired about the France U19 international.
Monaco Director General Oleg Petrov is reluctant to sell Badiashile, considering his potential, but not being able to guarantee him regular football is an issue.
He has currently blocked any move from happening, but whether or not that changes remains to be seen.
The English transfer window closes on August 8th.
