Newcastle United are reportedly looking at a deal to sign Southampton striker Charlie Austin, according to Football Insider.
The forward, who is seemingly out of Ralph Hasenhuttl’s plans after being left out of the tour of Austria, could be Steve Bruce’s first signing since being appointed Newcastle boss.
Austin has reportedly already rejected a move to West Brom this summer, instead wanting to sit out the final year of his deal with Southampton.

Aston Villa have also taken an interest in Austin, who deleted his twitter account yesterday after tweeting he was training with Mario Lemina, who is looking to leave Southampton.
Ralph Hasenhuttl wants to sell Austin this summer, with the Austrian looking to revamp his squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
The signing of Che Adams also puts Austin down the pecking order, especially with the forward being reduced to substitute appearances last season.
Newcastle are looking for forwards, with Joselu and Ayoze Perez departing the club, and Salomon Rondon returning to West Brom.
