Southampton are competing with Borussia Monchengladbach for the signing of Troyes striker Bryan Mbeumo and both clubs have financially blown French interest out of the water.
The Saints completed the £15million signing of Birmingham City striker Che Adams at the start of the month but it seems like Ralph Hasenhuttl is eyeing more attacking firepower this summer.
According to L’Equipe, as cited by Sport Witness, Southampton are pursuing Ligue 2 striker Mbeumo after he scored 11 goals in all competitions last season but face stern competition from Monchengladbach.
French pair Montpellier and Strasbourg have already had bids of €3million-€4million for the 19-year-old rejected due to the fact they are said to be ‘too little to compete with the proposals of English clubs or German.
The Saints will have to move quickly if they want to secure their man, with Monchengladbach having an €8million bid accepted and Mbeumo open to a move away from France.
