Stuart Armstrong hasn’t travelled with Southampton for their pre-season trip to Austria, due to illness.
Ralph Hasenhuttl and his players have visited the Montafon region of Austria to take part in a training camp, ahead of the 2019/20 season.
Southampton have confirmed that 26 players have travelled in total, but Armstrong isn’t one of them.
The midfielder has been struck down with food poisoning, meaning he will stay at home and recover.
Armstrong enjoyed a good first season at Southampton in 2018/19, scoring four goals in 32 appearances.
He became an important figure after arriving from Celtic, and will hope that continues to be the case.
Also missing from the Austria trip are Charlie Austin and Mario Lemina, both of whom have been strongly linked with summer moves away from Southampton.
Guido Carrillo, Jordie Classie and Sam Gallagher could exit St Mary’s in the coming weeks, too, and the trio are also not taking part.
