Danny Ings believes it is an “exciting” time to be a Southampton player, as Ralph Hasenhuttl continues to impress as manager.
Ings officially completed his £20 million move from Liverpool at the start of the week, having initially been on loan at St Mary’s last season.
The 26-year-old has had his injury problems, both for the Reds and for Saints, but he will be hoping for an influential 2019/20 campaign.
Hasenhuttl is about to begin his first full season as Saints manager, with the Austrian already a popular figure at the club.
Speaking to talkSPORT about what lies ahead, Ings could only speak positively about his current situation and the manager:
It feels great. Being here on loan last year, I really felt like a Saints player.
Now it’s all been completed, I’m over the moon. I just can’t wait to get going now.
He [Hasenhuttl] is very impressive. From day one it was new rules. He is very strict but we all wanted to move in the right direction.
I feel like the lads have really bought into that and you saw that in the performances towards the back end of the season.
We were showing signs of what we can be about. After a full pre-season under him, it’s going to be a really exciting time for the city.
If Ings can get over his fitness issues, there is no reason why he can’t be a priceless asset for Southampton in the coming years.
His quality and eye for goal are undeniable and he can fire Saints towards the top half of the Premier League.
