Alex McCarthy is keen on a move to Liverpool this summer after losing his place to Angus Gunn last season, with the Reds looking to replace the outgoing Simon Mignolet.
McCarthy played 10 times in the league under Ralph Haseenhuttl after he replaced Mark Hughes as manager in December, before eventually losing his place to Gunn, who started the final 12 games of the season under the Austrian.

According to the Evening Standard, McCarthy is reportedly keen on replacing Mignolet as Liverpool’s back-up goalkeeper to Alisson, and Saints themselves are looking to offload either the 31-year-old or Fraser Forster this summer.
Saints’ former player of the season would become the seventh player to swap Southampton for Liverpool in the last five years should the Reds complete a move.
The report suggests interest in McCarthy is high, with a number of Premier League side’s reportedly considering a move for the shot-stopper.
