AZ Alkmaar are hoping to sign Jordy Clasie this summer and have reportedly held ‘extensive’ talks with the out-of-favour Saints midfielder.
Clasie has spent the last two years out on loan, first joining Club Brugge for 2017/18 and then returning to his homeland and former team Feyenoord last season.
A report in De Telegraaf, cited on Football-Oranje, states Clasie is now wanted on a permanent deal by AZ Alkmaar as they search for a replacement for Adam Maher, who has joined FC Utrecht.
The 27-year-old is said to be keen on remaining in the Netherlands, and as he is seemingly surplus to requirements at St. Mary’s, Southampton will surely be happy to grant him his wish.

However, the Saints will likely demand a fee for Clasie, whereas the Dutchman is hoping they will release him from his contract, which would allow him to move for free.
Clasie joined the Saints in 2015 for £8 million, reuniting with ex-manager Ronald Koeman who was in charge at the time.
However, the defensive midfielder failed to live up to expectations and made only 38 Premier League appearances in his two seasons on the South-Coast before departing for Belgium.
