Danny Ings, who started the season on loan at Southampton, didn’t have the best campaign with the Premier League side. Throughout his season on loan, he only made 24 starting appearances due to repeated injuries.
Even though Ings hasn’t had the season he wanted, former Southampton player and England manager Kevin Keegan had nothing but positive remarks to make about the striker in a recent interview with the Daily Echo.
He is obviously a very talented player to score goals at that level because he has done It before at Liverpool.
Keegan also suggested that Ings needs to get into more of a routine with playing every week in order to show his true potential, whereas throughout the season when he was injured, he wasn’t able to showcase what he could bring to the team.
He has never really had a good run at it and that’s the problem. When you play and pick up injuries, you never quite get up to match speed.
Keegan went on to say:
Once he gets a run of games and starts scoring the goals, then the confidence will return and what’s what strikers really want.
Ings will be hoping that next season with Southampton he will be able to start more than his previous 24 appearances. After being out of football for a while last season, Ings will hope that the worst of his injury problems are behind him for the 2019/20 season.
