Southampton duo Nathan Redmond and James Ward-Prowse both scored for England in a friendly between the senior squad and the Under-21’s at St George’s Park on Tuesday.
Gareth Southgate and U21’s manager Aidy Boothroyd both used the 45 minute match to step up their preparations ahead of the summer international fixtures.
England’s senior side are getting ready to face Holland in the UEFA Nations League semi-final, and could face either Portugal or Switzerland in the final should they beat the Netherlands.
Boothroyd’s side meanwhile are preparing for this summer’s Under-21 European Championships in Italy and San Marino, and the Young Lions head to the tournament as joint favourites.

And according to the Daily Mail, Saints pair Redmond and Ward-Prowse were on target for the senior side in the 2-0 win against the U21’s.
Both have been left out of Southgate’s 23-man squad for next month’s semi-final clash with Holland, but the England manager has chosen to keep them around to train with the side.
