Maya Yoshida will not feature for Southampton in the final game of the league season, as already relegated Huddersfield Town travel to St Mary’s.
Yoshida has missed Saints’ last two games due to a virus, and manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has revealed that he will rest the Japan international to allow him to recover in time for his commitments with his national team this summer, the Daily Echo report.
It was a very very strong virus and so he is still not more than ten minutes on the bicycle and that’s enough for him.

I know he has to go to the national team in June so I give him the chance to rest completely and it doesn’t make any sense to take any risk.
Southampton head into the final day of the season having avoided relegation following a difficult campaign, but Hasenhuttl revealed he will name a side as close to full strength as possible, after giving fringe players a chance against West Ham last time out.
We have still one game to go at the weekend and we will have a few changes back in maybe the shape we played before and the players that played before. That means Angus is playing again and we will discuss the situation for every player after the last game and then we will take decisions of what happens to the players.
