Southampton forward Nathan Redmond wants to try a new position, ahead of next season.
The 25 year old has often been utilised as a winger throughout his career, and has played there frequently under Ralph Hasenhuttl.
However, the one-time England international wants to impress the Saints coach as a Number 10 during pre-season.

As reported by the Daily Echo, Redmond addressed where he’d like to play in the long-term. Redmond said:
The second half against Bournemouth, I was playing number eight.
Pierre was playing as number six and me and Prowsey were number eights, I wasn’t too happy about it but the fact he trusts me enough to play me there speaks for itself.
I think if the last six months was an audition for me to give myself the best chance to play in this sort of number 10/striking role, then hopefully I’ve given myself the best account.
If the formation is 3-4-3 or 4-2-2-2, I think he [Hasenhuttl] likes to play with number 10s and not necessarily wingers.
I can play in the number 10 position, so it will be interesting.
Pre-season will be tough first and foremost, but tactically it’s going to be interesting to understand.
Redmond also commented on his past experiences as a Number 10, claiming he played there for Birmingham City and Norwich before moving to St Mary’s. Redmond continued:
I played in the number 10 position when I was at Birmingham and when I was at Norwich.
I played there in the Championship. I’ve played on the left-hand side, the right-hand side and as a central striker.
I think I’ve played there before and it’s been out of impulse but now it’s about understanding the position and what this manager wants from me.
Against Watford, I played in the number 10, the left-hand side and then up front because Longy was blowing steam out of his ears.
With all these different positions, you have to be able to adapt.
