Reports linking Rangers midfielder Scott Arfield with a summer move to Southampton are believed to be ‘wide of the mark’.
A report from the Daily Record has dismissed Southampton’s interest in the former Burnley man.
It was claimed last month that Arfield could be a summer target for the Saints as they look to buy more British players.

The club are said to be seeking a return to their former transfer approach that brought much success in years gone by.
Southampton were reportedly eager to buy British this summer and Scottish-born Arfield was one of the players said to be on their radar.
The links to Arfield, who has scored 11 goals in all competitions this season, raised eyebrows at the time and it now looks unlikely that supporters will be seeing him in red and white next season.
The Canadian international has been an important player for Steven Gerrard’s side this season after making the move up north.
