Saints striker Shane Long has been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award after his fantastic run of form.
Long recently scored the fastest goal in Premier League history as Southampton took the lead against Watford after just seven seconds, this accompanied by four goals in the month of April makes him a well-deserved nominee.
Long’s competition for the Player of the Month award includes Eden Hazard, Jordan Henderson, Jamie Vardy, Mohamed Salah, Ayoze Perez, Chris Wood and Aymeric Laporte.

The Republic of Ireland international has struggled for a large part of the season but this late run of form has helped the striker’s cause in wanting a new contract with the club.

Prior to April, Long had only recorded one league goal all season but last month saw his confidence return and allowed the Irishman to show the Saints what he is still capable of.
