Ralph Hassenhuttl has made a guarantee to Southampton fans that his side will fight on to get 40 points and survive in the Premier League.
The Saints picked up a vital win on Saturday, beating out Wolves 3-1 at St Marys.
Goals from Nathan Redmond and Shane Long gave Hasenhuttl’s side a massive victory, with Southampton getting close to the 40 point mark.
Speaking afterwards to the BBC, the Austrian said:
We lost here not long ago against Cardiff and it seemed it (relegation) would go right to the end, so we are very happy. I can guarantee we will do everything we can to get to 40 points.
With only a few games remaining, Saints fans will be hoping that Hasenhuttl will be able to get the Saints to perform and stay in the top flight.
Southampton have five games left in the table, and sit 4 points off the 40 point mark that is the usual benchmark to keep sides in the top flight.
