Yes, the Saints once again surrendered a lead in their 3-1 home defeat to Liverpool on Friday night, conceding late to lose another Premier League game, but at no stage did it feel like we threw it away.
The performance was brave and sincere and they gave the league-leaders a good run for their money. With a bit more quality upfront – something that is sure to be addressed in the off season – Saints could have buried Liverpool in the first 20 mins.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg bossed the midfield and there were strong performances from Yan Valery, Jannick Vestergaard and Oriel Romeu in support.
