Southampton appear to have missed out on the chance to sign Motherwell’s Stuart McKinstry, with Football Insider reporting that Leeds United are close to agreeing a deal for highly rated youngster.
A number of clubs are interested in the 16-year-old, including Saints, but Leeds are reportedly in pole position to land the promising attacker.
According to the report, the Yorkshire side have agreed a fee in the region of £400,000 with Motherwell, with a number of add ons included.

McKinstry has already been named as a substitute in the Motherwell first team this season, and the 16-year-old is highly regarded as one of the most promising talents in Scottish football.
The attacker, who will turn 17 in September, was recently called up to the Scotland Under 17 squad for their European Championship qualifiers.
And McKinstry appears to be on his way to Leeds this summer, who are hopeful of finalising personal terms with the forward in the near future.
