Southampton legend David Peach has backed Ralph Hasenhuttl to keep the club in the Premier League and believes he holds the qualities needed to be a great manager.
The Saints currently sit just two points above the relegation zone in 16th but have shown vast improvements since Hasenhuttl took charge at the start of December.
Speaking to the Southern Daily Echo, Peach insisted he’s confident the Austrian is the right man to bring the good days back to St. Mary’s.
The manager’s come in at a difficult time but he’s done well. I think he can keep us up and do well next season. He’s got a bit of pedigree, he’s enthusiastic. He’s also a good decision-maker and when he makes changes they’re not like-for-like – he’ll change the way the team plays. That’s got the lads enthusiastic again whereas before you didn’t think they were up for it. I think he’s a born winner and I think he’ll keep us up.
Southampton aren’t in action again until after the international break on March 30 when they travel to the AMEX Stadium to face Brighton & Hove Albion in an all-South coast clash.
Hasenhuttl’s men will go into the game full of confidence though, after knocking off Tottenham Hotspur last time out, and will go level on points with the Seagulls with a win.
