Harry Kane could be handed a three-game suspension for an attempted headbutt on Cesar Azpilicueta, meaning he would miss Spurs’ trip to St Mary’s to face Southampton.
The striker was wound up by the Chelsea defenders all Wednesday night during his side’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of the blues, and matters reached boiling point when Kane and Azpilicueta squared up to one another.
Whilst Kane didn’t exactly try to head Azpilicueta’s noggin into the next postcode, the England captain certainly moved his head towards the Spaniard.
No punishment was forthcoming for the forward, but the incident would have to be reviewed if referee Andre Marriner stated that he didn’t see the headbutt in his match report.

A panel would then meet to determine the 25-year-old’s punishment, which could be that three-game suspension alluded to earlier.
In his Daily Mail column, former Premier League official Mark Clattenburg said:
Harry Kane can count himself lucky not to have been sent off on Wednesday…The Tottenham striker deliberately moved his head towards the Chelsea captain. There looked to be minimal contact with Azpilicueta but it does not matter how severe it was. Even if it was an attempted headbutt, that still carries the same punishment – a red card. Fortunately for Kane, Azpilicueta did not make a meal of it. The incident seemed to be missed by the match officials and the FA could now take retrospective action against Kane.
