Southampton pair fit to face Arsenal

Southampton duo Michael Obafemi and Stuart Armstrong could return for Sunday’s trip to Arsenal, according to the Daily Echo.

Obafemi has been missing since December but a shortage of strikers could see him feature prominently.

Danny Ings is out with a hamstring problem while Manolo Gabbiadini has been sold to Sampdoria.

Armstrong, meanwhile, was unavailable for the 2-1 defeat at home to Cardiff City with a calf injury, but may make a welcome start.

The shock loss at St Mary’s has left Saints in a perilous position, with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side now 18th in the Premier League table.

With Cardiff and Newcastle facing winnable matches at home to Watford and Huddersfield this weekend, Saints could be four points adrift of both by the time they kick-off at the Emirates on Sunday.

Their chances of picking up a positive result at Arsenal are slim, highlighting what a worrying time it is for anyone of a Southampton persuasion.
