Hasenhuttl expects to have Hojbjerg available for Burnley trip

Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is hopeful he will have Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg available to him come Saturday, for a challenging trip to Burnley.

Sustaining a cut to the head during Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace, the midfielder finished the game sporting a stylish head bandage.

Despite speculation he would be unable to play in Lancashire at the weekend, the Austrian tactician eased concerns ahead of the excursion.

Quoted by the club website, Hasenhuttl said:

I don’t know how Pierre is with his head, it was a hard hit,

The cut is not so important, but you always have to pay attention [with those injuries].

But he is a strong guy and I think he can handle this. Otherwise, I don’t know of any new injuries.

This will come as welcome news to the Southampton faithful, who have seen their team start to move in the right direction under a new manager. Despite sitting in 16th place, a win against Burnley would catapult the south coast outfit up the standings, and further away from the soon to be forgotten relegation spots.
