Southampton are ready to pay £10m to Genk for defender Joakim Maehle, according to a report from Simon Jones of The Mail.
Saints are in the market for a new full-back after letting Cedric Soares leave to join Inter Milan on loan and it looks like Ralph Hasenhuttl and his recruitment team have identified Maehle as the player they’d like to bring in.
The Danish defender cost Genk just £1.3m when they signed him from Aalborg back in 2017 and it looks like Saints are willing to fork out almost eight times that amount to bring the 21-year-old to St Mary’s.

19-year-old Yan Valery has been given the chance to play at right-back under Hasenhuttl and whilst the manager has reportedly been happy with the teenager, he still feels like he needs to bring in extra cover and quality at the full-back position.
With just two days to go until the transfer window closes, Saints will need to move quickly if they want to get a deal for the Danish U21 international over the line.
