Southampton making a move for Genk’s Joakim Maehle will be unlikely to happen in this transfer window, according to the Southern Daily Echo.
With Cedric Soares set to depart the Saints imminently to join Inter Milan, many are wondering if Saints will sign a replacement for the Portuguese defender.
However, according to the report, Saints are unlikely to make a move for the defender this January, despite having a legitimate interest in Maehle.

The move is more likely to happen this January, with Southampton reportedly happy with their current options in the position for the meantime.
Jan Valery has become Ralph Hassenhuttl’s prefered choice in the position and the Austrian is likely to stick with his young talent before assessing the situation in the Summer.
Cedric is set to depart the club to join Inter, ending his stay on the south coast. The Portuguese international and Euro 2016 winner signed for Southampton in 2015 from Sporting and would make over 100 appearances for the Saints.
