Carrillo and Boufal could return to Southampton

Southampton are not ruling out the possibility of both Guido Carrillo and Sofiane Boufal returning to the club in the near future.

As reported by the Daily Echo, Southampton chairman Ralph Krueger has confirmed that two could be given a chance in the first-team squad under Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Both players deserve that opportunity and when we feel the time is right to sell, we will sell. The loan and sell situation comes up on the individual case. You don’t want to loan players in either direction unless there is really good business.

At the moment, Ralph’s already evaluating and is look at those players again and why not? We will make a decision on them in the summer.

Both are currently playing their football in Spain, on loan at Leganes and Celta Vigo respectively.

Carrillo and Boufal were both signed with big expectations, but neither managed to deliver under previous managers.

Ex-Saints boss Mauricio Pellegrino signed Carrillo and the striker has since followed him to La Liga, where he has scored five league goals this season.

Southampton fans may be more excited by the prospect of Boufal returning to the club.

The winger struggled under Mark Hughes but remains an highly-rated winger and could offer the Saints some added flair in the final third under their new Austrian boss.
