Saints duo heading for January exit

Ralph Hasenhüttl is wasting little time when it comes to making his mark on the Southampton squad.

The Austrian tactician has reportedly already identified two players that he has no use for on the south coast, namely Steven Davis and Fraser Forster.

Davis has been a Saint since 2012, and has made 223 appearances in his time at the club. However, falling down the pecking order has made playing time hard to come by for the Northern Irishman, and now a move to Glasgow Rangers seems to be in the offing.

Forster has had a torrid 12 months, being dropped after a series of poor performances for Alex McCarthy. The former deputy took the gloves and has shown no signs of relinquishing them, and the signing of Angus Gunn from Manchester City seems to have made Forster third choice at St Mary’s.

There are a number of Championship sides on the brink of promotion runs who could use another goalkeeper, including Leeds United and Aston Villa – possible destinations for Forster.
