Klopp backs Hasenhuttl to succeed in the Premier League

Ralph Hasenhüttl is on the verge of being appointed Southampton manager, and he’s been given the seal of approval by one Jürgen Klopp.

The Austrian tactician left RB Leipzig in May of this year, and the Saints job will be his first in English football.

As excitement builds for the arrival of the 51-year-old, Klopp has offered kind words to the incoming boss.

Quoted by the Daily Echo, the Liverpool manager said:

Tall guy, a good guy as well.

Very lively football, very aggressive, pressing, actually very lively approach I would say.

A good guy and Southampton, how I heard it, is a nice city.

It sounds like a win-win situation.

In his time at Leipzig, Hasenhüttl won 40 of 83 games, guiding Die Bullen to a second placed finish in the 2016-17 season.

The former striker replaces Mark Hughes, who became a much ostracised figure in his final days at the club.
