Southampton manager Mark Hughes is not fazed by recent speculation surrounding his future at the club.
Speaking ahead of his side’s clash against Manchester United on Saturday, as quoted by Sky Sports, the Welshman was quizzed on claims that he could be dismissed by the Saints in the immediate future.
It has been a torrid season for Hughes’ men so far and they currently sit in 18th place on the Premier League table after winning just one game.

This has prompted talk that the former Stoke City boss could be given his marching orders in the coming days, with the likes of Paulo Sousa linked with an arrival at St Mary’s Stadium.
However, Hughes has not been deterred by the reports from the media and alluded to how he has grown accustomed to pressurising situations at the bottom-end of the table.
The Southampton boss was cool when responding to questions surrounding his future and said:

It’s what a lack of positive results brings. In this day and age, there are media outlets out there that try and set the agenda, when really it isn’t back up my facts or the reality of the situation at the club.
So you have to deal with that as well. But truth in the matter, I have said this a few times, if you get good results then that pressure goes away, it goes to somebody else. I am not the only manager in charge of a football club that is down at the bottom and maybe is under achieving at the moment.
I seem to be getting the brunt of the speculation, rightly or wrongly, but I accept it that’s what happens. I have been in the game a long time, it does not faze me, we want to excel even more and that is the message I give to the players.
