Mark Hughes is on the brink at Southampton after nine games in the Premier League without a win.
The Saints’ last victory came away to Crystal Palace on September 1, and many fans have started calling for the Welshman’s head.
Despite boasting a number of talented players, Southampton have struggled mightily for form in recent weeks, with a 3-2 defeat away to Fulham on Saturday the latest instalment in a series of comical defending (Wesley Hoedt being the star of the week).
If Hughes is canned by the club, a long-term replacement may take a while to arrive in the door at St Mary’s, a place where some accomplished tacticians have taken the manager’s office in recent memory.

However, a short-term replacement is in the pipeline.
As reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Kelvin Davis was a Southampton legend in his time on the south coast, making 271 appearances in ten years as a Saint, retiring as a player in 2016.
A first team coach, the 42-year-old seems an obvious temporary replacement for Hughes – should the board decide to give him the boot.
