Southampton will not sack Mark Hughes just yet despite their recent slump down into the Premier League relegation zone.
The Welshman has seen his future at St Mary’s Stadium come under intense scrutiny in recent weeks, with the team winning only once in the top-flight this season.
Following Southampton’s 3-2 defeat away at Fulham on Saturday afternoon, suggestions had been made that Hughes would face the axe.

However, according to a report from the Telegraph, this will not be the case, with the Saints willing to hand the experienced manager a lifeline as he looks to turn the club’s campaign around.
Southampton handed Hughes a three-year contract in the summer following his efforts on an interim basis towards the end of last season.
With the team now sat in 18th place after 13 Premier League games, though, it’s reported that the club’s hierarchy will review the first-team manager’s position if results do not improve in the immediate future.
