Sam Gallagher is still trying to recover from his hamstring injury, which has kept him out of action for a lengthy amount of time, as reported by the Daily Echo.
As well as the young forward’s injury, The Saints are also missing some other key strikers ahead of their game against Fulham away at Craven Cottage.
Danny Ings is a big doubt as well as Shane Long, who pulled out of the Republic of Ireland squad before the international break with an ankle injury.

This leaves just Charlie Austin and Manolo Gabbiadini available as senior options for Mark Hughes. Promising academy graduate Michael Obafemi has, however, made two appearances from the bench this season.
The Southampton boss expressed his disappointment regarding Gallagher’s continued injury struggles. Hughes said:
He is still injured. He isn’t an option and will be a number of weeks yet, it’s a shame because he is very close and this year I was hoping to give him a little bit of game time in the League Cup, but injuries stopped us having that option.
Saints rebuffed approaches for Gallagher in the summer but the striker has yet to feature for the first team this season.
