Sam Allardyce has cooled speculation linking him with a move to Southampton.
The former Everton boss had been touted as an option for the Saints as pressure on current manager Mark Hughes continues to grow.
Recent reports had indicated that the Welshman could receive his marching orders if the Saints continue to struggle in the Premier League, with Allardyce named as a potential replacement.
Speaking to talkSPORT on Friday morning, Allardyce was quizzed on the speculation and responded in typically satirical fashion, whilst also claiming that Southampton have “ruined” themselves after continuous player sales.

Allardyce, as cited by HITC, said:
They’ve ruined themselves by selling. They’ve ruined the club, the stature and creating a new modern-day history by the fact that rather than keeping the players they’ve continually sold off their homegrown talent first and then people like (Dejan) Lovren have moved on.
I’m off to Dubai next week, I can’t see myself taking a job in the next three weeks at least! I’ve booked Dubai for New Year.
Allardyce has been out of work since the end of last season, as Everton opted to appoint Marco Silva instead of offering the veteran boss a long-term contract at the club.
The 64-year-old has a reputation for helping teams escape relegation problems in the Premier League and with Southampton just two points from the bottom of the table, the rumours hardly came as a surprise.
