Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis has confirmed that Southampton youngster Sam McQueen has suffered knee ligament damage.
As reported by the Northern Echo, Pulis confirmed the bad news after the player was stretchered off against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup.
The Southampton loanee was forced off early on Wednesday night in what looked like a nasty injury after an incident with Palace’s Jeffrey Schlupp.

The player has since had scans on the injury, which revealed cruciate knee ligament damage.
Middlesbrough are now said to be in talks with Southampton over the player’s recovery process.
McQueen could return to Southampton to undergo his rehabilitation, something that is not uncommon for players out on loan when they suffer long-term injuries.
The news comes as a huge blow for Southampton and McQueen, who would have been hoping to get regular first-team football under his belt in the Championship this season, but that no longer appears likely.
