Southampton have reportedly been handed a fitness boost ahead of their weekend fixture against AFC Bournemouth with Alex McCarthy and Stuart Armstrong both believed to be fit to play, the Daily Echo reports.
McCarthy return to Southampton from St George’s Park before England’s draw with Croatia after failing to train with the rest of the national squad because of a knee injury that he was nursing.
Armstrong limped off the pitch in Scotland’s home defeat to Portugal on Sunday with an injury, but both players are expected to feature for the Saints at the weekend.
Bournemouth have scored in every Premier League home game at the Vitality Stadium so far this season, with McCarthy’s return appearing to be rather timely.

Armstrong, on the other hand, has struggled to feature regularly in the starting line-up for Mark Hughes’ side this term since completing his summer move from Scottish giants Celtic.
However, Hughes will be glad to have both players back in the fold for their short trip to south coast rivals Bournemouth this weekend.
