Southampton’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has said that his side’s 2-0 victory at Crystal Palace on Saturday was because of lessons learned from last weekend’s defeat to Leicester, BT Sport reports.
Southampton conceded a late winner against Leicester last weekend as they endured another Premier League defeat.
However, the Saints recovered to seal their first win of the season on Saturday thanks to goals from Danny Ings and Hojbjerg..
After scoring his first Premier League goal, Hojbjerg spoke to Southampton’s official website:
The last few games have had some positives, even though we shouldn’t have lost against Leicester.
We came back and got a good reaction, taking on what we needed to do tactically and we delivered.
There are two feelings in the dressing room and they are that we are very happy and relieved because we’ve been working for a result like this for a time now. Everyone in and around the club will share that feeling too.
Credit to Palace because it’s a very tough place to come. They are good at creating momentum and physically putting the opponent under pressure.
With a little bit of luck, we stood against them and got a clean sheet and a win. Winning is like medicine – it saves your life.
