Premier League new boys Fulham are confident of reaching a compromise with Southampton over a deal for defender Matt Targett, Football.London reports.
The left-back spent the second half of last season on loan at Craven Cottage and helped the side gain promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs after they beat Aston Villa 1-0 at Wembley in the final.
Targett impressed the Fulham manager, Slavisa Jokanovic, and Fulham fans alike with his attacking play.
Fulham have been trying desperately all summer to secure the 23-year-old on a permanent deal, with Targett now a priority for the London club.
Fulham have already secured the services of Aleksandar Mitrovic from Newcastle after he too enjoyed a loan spell with the club last season.

The Cottagers are also close to completing a deal for Swansea’s Alfie Mawson.
Southampton are believed to value Targett at £15million with Fulham already having a bid rejected earlier on in the window that was far lower than this estimation.
Targett made 21 appearances for Fulham last season with Southampton making little contact with the player during his loan spell.
