Mark Hughes is happy with Southampton’s business in the summer transfer window so far, as per a report from the Daily Echo.
The Saints boss is currently overseeing his first transfer window at the club and has already seen four players through the door. Stuart Armstrong and Mohamed Elyounoussi joined towards the start of the window and in the past week, Angus Gunn and Jannik Vestergaard have been confirmed as Saints players.
This takes the club’s spending up to around £51 million for the summer so far, according to the Daily Echo, and Hughes has been speaking of his squad’s condition following the recent dealings.

We’re very close. We’re in good shape. A lot of work has been done already, a lot of underlying work and groundwork has been put in place and we’ve been able to get a few through the door already, which is quite early.
Hughes, who signed a three-year contract to become Southampton’s manager on a permanent basis in May, admitted that he nearly has the squad he wants heading into the 2018/19 season.
When you look at everyone else, there’s not a lot of people doing any business, in a World Cup year, we’re ahead of the game because it starts to churn a little bit when everyone starts to come back. We’ve been able to do good work before.
Southampton will be looking to press ahead in the upcoming campaign and avoid a relegation battle, unlike they did in the previous season.
