Mohamed Elyounoussi has been discussing why he opted to sign for Southampton this summer.
The Saints confirmed a deal for the winger on Friday afternoon after they had agreed a fee believed to be worth in the region of £16m with Swiss giants FC Basel.
Elyounoussi flew in for a medical late in the day on Thursday before putting pen to paper on a five-year contract at Southampton.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Elyounoussi discussed the thinking behind his move to Southampton and labelled Saints as a ‘family club’.

It’s a family club that is known for bringing in players, developing them and for younger players to get better. That’s why I have come here to become a better player.
The Saints have now made two summer signings under Mark Hughes and Ross Wilson’s supervision, with Elyounoussi joining Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong at St Mary’s.
Southampton will be hoping that Elyounoussi can hit the ground running after a hugely impressive season in Switzerland with Basel. The Norwegian international found the net on 13 times in all competitions and also contributed with 17 assists.
I’m delighted and excited to be here as well as to meet the guys, start to train and also to move to the city because I heard of good things about the city.
