Southampton have reportedly handed promising young goalkeeper Jack Rose a new contract.
It’s claimed by PA Sport reporter Nick Mashiter that the 23-year-old is in line to put pen to paper on a new two-year contract extension at St Mary’s after impressing in the club’s youth academy.

Rose joined Southampton on a free transfer last summer but only on a short-term deal, as he penned a one-year contract following his release from West Brom.

However, after performing well between the sticks for Saints’ U23 side throughout last season, the club have opted to hand Rose a new deal as a reward for his efforts.
Saints are well-stocked with goalkeeping options but Fraser Forster’s future is in doubt at the moment following the news of Alex McCarthy’s contract extension.
Perhaps Rose will be called upon as the club’s second-choice goalkeeper next season if Forster does indeed opt to seek a move away from St Mary’s.
