Southampton striker Sam Gallagher has emerged as a summer target for Sheffield United, according to a report from the Sheffield Star.
The towering forward spent the duration of last season at Birmingham City and despite enjoying a purple patch midway through the campaign, struggled to convince at St Andrew’s.
Gallagher, who was handed his Southampton debut during Mauricio Pochettino’s reign, has failed to cement his place in the club’s first-team and could be set for a summer exit.

Saints currently have four senior strikers available in Charlie Austin, Manolo Gabbiadini, Guido Carrillo and Shane Long, and it seems Gallagher could be deemed surplus to Mark Hughes’ requirements ahead of next season.
Gallagher netted seven goals in the Championship for Birmingham last season and it seems Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is willing to take the plunge and recruit the former Blackburn Rovers loanee.
Wilder is understood to be an admirer of Gallagher’s talents and with his transfer budget appearing to be more flexible this summer, it appears as though the Saints youngster will be targeted.
