Southampton will be one of four teams taking part in a pre-season tournament at the home of South Shields in July.
The Daily Record report that Scottish champions Celtic and French outfit Marseille will join them in the North of England, with the host club completing the lineup.
Mark Hughes signed a three-year contract to take charge of the Saints towards the end of last month following his success in steering the club away from the relegation zone last campaign.
It is unclear how strong a squad Hughes will take with him to Mariners Park, with the Saints only having other fixtures against Schalke and Jiangsu Suning scheduled as part of their pre-season so far.

South Shields currently play in the Northern Premier Division, and chairman Geoff Thompson said:
To attract clubs of the size of Celtic, Marseille and Southampton to Mariners Park is a massive coup for the club and I’m sure it will generate a lot of excitement with our supporters.
We also look forward to welcoming supporters of each of the three clubs to Mariners Park, where there is sure to be a friendly atmosphere which all of the family will enjoy.
The tournament will take place between 27 July and 29 July, a mere 12 days after the completion of the World Cup.
Anyone wishing to attend any of the three days can find ticket details on the South Shields website.
