According to De Telegraaf, as translated by Sport Witness, Dusan Tadic is likely to join Ajax this summer, with the Dutch side keen on signing the Serbian international.
Tadic has had a tough season at a relegation-threatened Southampton, but his poor performances were all but forgotten after a spectacular individual performance against South Coast rivals Bournemouth, where he bagged two. Many say that that was the game which sparked life into the Southampton survival bid.
It’s stated in the report that Tadic would be keen on returning to the Netherlands this summer, with the proposal from Ajax seemingly of interest to him.
Obviously, if Southampton did go down, it would’ve been much easier for Ajax to bring in Tadic, who is set to be a replacement for Hakim Ziyech, who looks likely to join Roma this summer.
The Saints’ attacking midfielder joined the club in 2014 for £12.6m from Eredivisie side FC Twente, where he performed very well, and Ajax will be hoping he can return to the Dutch top-flight in a similar vein of form.
For Twente, he played 85 games in all competitions, scoring 32 and assisting 36 times.
