Southampton release Florin Gardoș and Jérémy Pied as they announce their list of players who won’t be retained ahead of next season.
The duo are the only senior players on the list, although they are joined by a host of academy players.
Pied joined the Saints in the summer of 2016 from OGC Nice, signed by then manager Claude Puel as full-back competition for Cédric Soares. However, Pied failed to make a mark and leaves St Mary’s having made just eight appearances.

Gardoș meanwhile joined in 2014 from FC Steaua București in his native Romania. Despite playing in a number of games in his first season with the club, Gardoș fell out of favour, and was loaned to Clubul Sportiv Universitatea Craiova in Februrary this year.
The full list of players who will leave upon their contracts expiring, as published on the club’s official website, are:
Jérémy Pied, Florin Gardoș, Ollie Cook, Armani Little, Olufela Olomola, Will Wood, Ben Cull, Oliver Gardner, Javen Siu and Richard Bakary.
