Southampton manager Mark Hughes has asked the club to make a swift decision on who will be their next manager, as reported by BT Sport.
Hughes has succeeded since joining the club and has ultimately kept them in the Premier League this season after taking over from Mauricio Pellegrino.
The contract of the Welshman ends at the climax of the season and he feels the right time to discuss things will come following the Manchester City game.
Southampton have looked much better since the arrival of Hughes, with the team putting in a number of fine performances, further cementing their place in the top-flight.

It would require a 10-goal swing for Hughes’ men to drop down to the Championship, with Swansea facing already-relegated Stoke City at the Liberty Stadium.
The Welshman left Stoke earlier in the season but has had a fine impact at his new club and many of Saints’ fans are keen for him to remain in the role.
Hughes spoke about the situation when addressing the media on Friday:
I think it’s important for the club that they do that. Clearly there’s work to be done immediately after the season, decisions have to be made in terms of recruitment and retention of the players.
So it would make sense to make a quick appointment, but I can’t shape that or dictate that, that’s a decision for the club. It would be wrong to raise the question (of a new deal) before the end of the season.
