Southampton boss Mark Hughes has praised the Saints supporters for their role in the team’s crucial win over Swansea City on Tuesday night, as reported by the club’s official website.
Saints sold out their allocation for the game and were fully rewarded for their support with a 1-0 win in South Wales.
The club’s supporters have been fully behind the team since Hughes’ arrival at the club in March, with his side recovering from being in a precarious position.
Southampton now sit three points clear of Swansea with a game to go and a far superior goal difference.

It’s certainly a position which the club should never have found themselves in, but they appear to have all but secured their Premier League status ahead of next season.
Hughes spoke of his appreciation for the Saints supporters following the win on Tuesday evening in Wales:
We were in a situation of our own making in terms of this season, but I have to say the fans stuck with us.
Since I’ve been here they’ve been fantastic. I haven’t seen any negativity and tonight they were magnificent. Once again, they’ve got us over the line. Thank you very much.
