Southampton boss Mark Hughes has held talks with Southampton over taking the club’s managerial role on a long term basis, according to the Daily Mail.
His current deal comes to an end at the climax of the Premier League season after he arrived at the club in May.
Last night, Saints took a huge stride towards securing their Premier League status as they beat Swansea City 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium.
Hughes met with Southampton’s board last week and said he was keen to stay on at the club even if they were relegated to the Championship.

The Welshman is keen to settle down with the club and become their manager on a permanent basis next season after enjoying his spell to date.
The 54-year-old is also keen for the club to award full-time deals to coaches Mark Bowen and Eddie Niedzwiecki as he looks to build his backroom staff ahead of next season.
