Southampton travel to Goodison Park to face Everton on Saturday, and it’s fair to say that both clubs’ fans haven’t had the best of seasons.
While the Toffees can at least be thankful for a likely eighth-place finish, Saints are in a much more dangerous position, in 18th place, just one point and one place behind 17th-placed Swansea City.
Mark Hughes picked up only his second win since succeeding Mauricio Pellegrino as manager last weekend, his first in the Premier League, beating South Coast rivals Bournemouth 2-1.
Everton meanwhile have won five points from their last three Premier League games, winning the two most recent fixtures against Huddersfield Town and Newcastle United.
As for the respective clubs’ squads, here is how a combined XI consisting of both clubs would likely look like.
