Southampton and Newcastle United are in the race to sign CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin according to Russian football agent Alexander Manyakov.
The player has been for some time now been linked to a move to the Premier League, with the likes of Brighton and Arsenal both having been named as potential destinations.
Golovin performed well in his side’s recent Europa League tie against Arsenal, which only put him further in the shop window after impressing against Arsene Wenger’s side.

Manyakov spoke to Sports.Ru, as translated in a report from Sport Witness, about the player and discussed where he may play his football next season.
He needs to leave. As far as I know, there are offers from Premier League clubs but not from the top six. I know that Southampton and Newcastle are showing an interest but he has a contract with CSKA.
CSKA Moscow are reportedly looking to receive a sum of €20m for their star player and are reluctant to sell unless this price is met.
The Saints are still battling to stay in the Premier League and will only be able to sign the player if they keep their place in the top flight ahead of next season.
