Man Utd to eye up Cedric Soares this summer

Manchester United are reportedly ready to snap up Cedric Soares from Southampton in the upcoming transfer window, according to The Mirror.

It is believed that he will cost around £20m but Mourinho is willing to pay this to provide competition for United’s first choice right-back Antonio Valencia.

It is also believed that other Manchester United right-back Matteo Darmian will be on his way out of Old Trafford, with it looking likely for him to move back to his native Italy, with numerous Serie A clubs looking fondly at him.

Despite this being a very difficult season for Southampton, with the Saints five points off safety with twelve points to play for, Cedric has been pretty much ever present under Manuel Pellegrino and Mark Hughes.

He missed six league games through injury but apart from that, he took part in every league game this season, putting in performances that have looked to really impress José Mourinho.

His performances have also impressed his national manager, Fernando Santos, who has frequently picked him for Portugal numerous times this season, with his most recent cap coming in the thrilling 2-1 win over Egypt.

Despite only scoring one goal this season, in the FA Cup win at Wigan Athletic, his performances this season may get him a transfer to Old Trafford, which could look more likely if Southampton were to fall into the Championship during the next four matches.
